Airbus rejects take off at Zürich

Fear of Landing

Zürich Airport has six runways (10/28, 14/32 and 16/34). Generally speaking, during the day with calm winds, runway 14 is used for arrivals and runway 28 is used for departures. However, when there are strong (over 8 knot) winds from the west or north, runway 32 is the preferred runway throughout the day, with 34 for heavies.

A “Z” is appended to the end of the time to denote the time is given in Zulu time (UTC) as opposed to local time. RVR is the distance a pilot can see down the runway in a moving aircraft. Now we get to the weather.
