We’ve known for some time that Riyadh Air intends to acquire narrow body jets. As a reminder, in March 2023, Riyadh Air placed an order for up to 72 Boeing 787s, including a firm order for 39 jets, plus options for an additional 33 jets. Douglas states that the new wide body order will be placed by 2025.

Back in 2023, the airline placed an order for up to 72 Boeing 787-9s , as this will be the carrier’s primary wide body aircraft. Then earlier in 2024, we learned that Riyadh Air had placed a narrow body aircraft order, though the details weren’t initially revealed.

Saudia Group has just placed a massive narrow body aircraft order , which is described as the largest aircraft order in Saudi Arabian aviation history. Saudia Group has ordered a lot of Airbus jets! Saudia currently has 21 Boeing 787s, with an additional 38 on order (split between the 787-9 and 787-10).
