This rating does require the pilot to log 50 hours of cross-country time as pilot in command (this is waived for Part 141 instruction). Time is money for the airlines, so many jet transition courses are less than 30 days in length. Little tolerance for repeat lessons here. you may be wasting precious time and money.

The fast jets and faster-talking controllers can be intimidating. These simpler classes cannot handle major international airports’ constant high-speed jet traffic. Keeping jet traffic safe alongside slower general aviation aircraft is harder still. It’s understandable. ADS-B Out inside the Mode C Veil.

Without any squadron aircraft available yet, the challenge was revised to renting an aircraft at the local general aviation airporta Piper Cub! The XO was now pilot in command and I was doing co-pilot duties on the flight to Dallas. New hire pilots operate as a flight engineer or navigator/3rd officer.

It is reasonable to assume that remote pilots and ground stations that intend to take over control of a civil aircraft must be certified as well. As type rated pilots are envisioned as GPs, the ground-based cockpit will most likely look like the real deal minus oxygen masks. This is how it should be, but not everyone sees it that way.
