To start our flying day I must stress the most important part of flight planning, ADM, Aeronautical Decision Making. It's now 7am and our planned departure time was 9am arriving just after noon. I checked the hangar and had no bulb in my parts cabinet. 7 IMC, finally breaking out into VFR as we approached the CVI VOR.

Preparations for this trip the night before included: Flight planning to time-out each of the four legs of the planned round trip as well as verification of customs hours (Kingston, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm M-F, Ogdensburg, 8:00 am to midnight every day). Filing three IFR flight plans (KSDC to CYGK, CYGK to CYRO, and CYRO to KOGS).

Our original plan was to head to Galveston but with my knee giving me fits we thought it best to make a shorter flight. I also secured hangar space for the week to the tune of $75 a night. I launched from runway three-two and pointed for the Snow Hill VOR. Once south of Myrtle Beach I was turned direct Charleston VOR.

I was escorted outside by a docent who was supposed to have led the 2:30 pm Reserve Hangar tour, but was available because no one signed up for it. But I also needed to be airborne at 3:00 pm or else amend my flight plan and arrival time with US Customs in Ogdensville, NY. Yes, I missed an opportunity for a one on one tour!
