Thorp joined the Piper design team during the Cherokees development; his own Sky Scooter used a stabilator.

Sure, there are the removable wings and an unusual-for-an-RV stabilator out back for pitch control, but there’s nothing revolutionary in the concepts or execution. The large canopy pivots at the firewall, so it’s up and out of the way as you settle in. The rudder hardly calls attention to itself outside of having plenty of authority.

To the Firewall (Power) Quick and smooth power application is also required to minimize altitude loss during stall recovery. This requires rudder input to maintain directional control.

The previous CTs had a stabilator for pitch, where the new F2 uses a more conventional elevator and fixed horizontal stabilizer. With the F2, the rudder and vertical stabilizer are changed, with the rudder becoming a much smaller surface than before. Out back, theres an entirely new tail. Well see about that.

Pretty much the only metal parts are the landing gear legs, stainless firewalls, engine mounts, engines and hardware. An elegantly simple rope system inside the fuselage raises and lowers the Gweduck’s water rudder mounted inside the base of the main rudder (right). Pricing You would have to ask.
