To demonstrate this magnificent place, I chose horrendously gusty winds by manually editing the weather in both X-Plane 12 (XP12) and MSFS2020. Left downwind on a blustery day with live weather actually shows a virga burst over the field, with local winds gusting 36 knots, making for some extreme conditions in such a tight canyon.

We took off from runway 25 (via backtrack) southbound IFR to Shefferville via DIRECT. Weather was good along the way but the closer we got to our destination, the worse the weather below. At Shefferville , the weather was really bad in rain and landed via the RNP runway 17… the airport was completely empty !

When I tuned the AWOS (automated weather observation system) at Saratoga Springs, the transmitter broadcast a repeating statement about the AWOS being unavailable. (We We learned the next day that a circuit breaker for the weather sensing instrumentation tripped, but the transmitter still worked. Ground team!

I won't blame the airline for the delay as aircraft and weather issue are beyond their control. The weather at Penang was quite nice. The taxi to the runway took around 5 minutes. Some weather along the way but we managed to avoid them. December is quite common for bad weather as it is considered the monsoon period.

After take off, there was some bumps especially flying through the clouds but once we were out of Greece, the weather improved and for the rest of the flight, it was smooth. Window view (Take off to Landing) Look at the golden livery on the engine, it is absolutely gorgeous especially in good weather. Finally broke through the clouds.

The airport currently has 2 terminals in operation with a 3rd terminal currently being built and has 2 runways 05L/23R and 05R/23L, with a 3rd runway being built to manage the increased traffic once the new terminal starts operation. As the traffic was heavy at the airport, it took a while for us to reach the runway.

Currently the airport has 2 terminals, the main and the satallite terminal and uses 2 runways, runway 03L/21R and 03R/21R. Rolling down the runway in this beautiful weather. We are on final approach on runway 34 at SKG. Somehow this view reminds me of my Jetsmart's A320 takeoff at Santiago Airport.

I did a check on the weather and I noticed how windy the condition is at Lisbon so one thing for sure, this was probably a bumpy flight. Anyway, once we were ready, we pushed back and taxied to the active runway. Finally we pushed back and on our way. We were at runway 09R for departure. This is the crayfish sandwich.

I was listening intently to the ASOS for wind or gusts, letting it repeat 5 or 6 times with the exact same report: 9 kts straight down the runway; no gusts. That was the runway we would use to land. It’s worth noting that Shmulik had a close call in the past: a jet pulled onto the runway in front of him with no radio call.

The airpoort has 4 runways: 09/27, 10/28 , 11L/29R and 11R/29L. It's not easy to arrive early at Mumbai due to the heavy traffic and also the airport operates a single runway for both departure and landing. Having just returned from Boston four days prior, I was concerned about the weather on Block. due to bad weather. Uplinked weather conditions showed fog and low IFR conditions at Block Island during most of the flight, but the weather improved as forecast during the last hour. However, he mentioned that there was turbulence along the way, not a surprise especially June to October period is usually the typhoon season and bad weather is quite common. I wonder whether was it because of the bad weather on route that caused us to push back late. After 20 minutes of taxi, we reached runway 20L.
