On the downwind to the westerly runway at LOWI, I experienced a lot of up and down drafts, shear, varying winds, and sloppy controls. For the final approach, I calculated V REF of about 128 was fought with much shear, with airspeed variances of up to 20 to 30 knots, providing a wild ride.

We took off from runway 25 (via backtrack) southbound IFR to Shefferville via DIRECT. At Shefferville , the weather was really bad in rain and landed via the RNP runway 17… the airport was completely empty ! ATC assigned runway 18 and landed. Climb 16’000ft on runway heading 36, squawk 6230 USA here we come !

Currently the airport has 2 terminals, the main and the satallite terminal and uses 2 runways, runway 03L/21R and 03R/21R. There were slight turbulence during this flight and it is nothing compare to my return flight, more on that in my next trip report (Aegean A320ceo SKG-ATH). Rolling down the runway in this beautiful weather.

About 40 minutes on the aircraft, we were finally on our way, no updates from the Captain until later part of the flight. While taxing to the runway, it started raining and off we went! The turbulence was not as bad as what I was anticipating and for most parts of the flight, it was smooth. Goodbye Lisbon, until next time!

Anyway, once we were ready, we pushed back and taxied to the active runway. Once we were on our way, we encountered some expected turbulence especially flying through the clouds but once we reached our assigned flight level, it was smooth all the way until we were on final approach. Finally we pushed back and on our way.

The airport currently has 2 terminals in operation with a 3rd terminal currently being built and has 2 runways 05L/23R and 05R/23L, with a 3rd runway being built to manage the increased traffic once the new terminal starts operation. I should be able to do a video call but if there is turbulence, I won’t be surprised if my phone “fly".

This was my flight's final assigned gate. I spotted another green stripes livery on this A330-900neo on final approach to this airport. Announcement was made by the Captain about our flight which we would to expect some turbulence especially along the way but no mention about the flight delay. Goodbye Frankfurt!

Possible causes include: Rotor turbulence, e.g. on wave days. Sometimes the wind socks at both ends of the runway point in opposite directions! Rapidly approaching cold fronts (or other fronts, e.g. sea breeze fronts). In certain conditions blowing dust (a “ haboob “) can make an approaching front easily visible.

As this was the first time sitting quite front in the Boeing 767-400ER, I find it to be quite noisy during take off and there was quite a bit of turbulence during the flight. I was listening intently to the ASOS for wind or gusts, letting it repeat 5 or 6 times with the exact same report: 9 kts straight down the runway; no gusts. That was the runway we would use to land. It’s worth noting that Shmulik had a close call in the past: a jet pulled onto the runway in front of him with no radio call.

However, he mentioned that there was turbulence along the way, not a surprise especially June to October period is usually the typhoon season and bad weather is quite common. After 20 minutes of taxi, we reached runway 20L. We hit some turbulence while flying through some clouds. Overall it was a nice flight.

Usually it gets turbulent at the bay of Bengel but not on this flight. On final approach to LHR runway 27 Left. My cabin luggage was able to fit in but it is better to have the handle of the baggage facing you to optimise space. The moving map with the flight information is actually not bad.

However I decided to keep it till the hotel to enjoy as I didn't want to make a mess out of it (snack with gravy sauce) as the space was quite limited and I didn't want to spill or splash any gravy onto the neighbour in case if there is sudden turbulence. After take off, the ride was generally smooth but there was turbulence from time to time but the worst was flying over Bay of Bengal near India. At this point we were close to our final approach to FRA airport. Lady lucky was on my side as I was able to enjoy the great view at seat 46A. We had a smooth touched down.

In addition, the airport has 2 runways, runway 10/28 and 16/34 and operates 2 terminals. The aircraft was on final approach to SKG. Looking at the skies, it was a complete opposite from my arrival, the skies were filled with clouds with some angry ones from the distance, I was expecting some turbulence on this flight.

The airpoort has 4 runways: 09/27, 10/28 , 11L/29R and 11R/29L. It's not easy to arrive early at Mumbai due to the heavy traffic and also the airport operates a single runway for both departure and landing. Anyway we were informed about the turbulence and for this flight, the first officer did the announcements. Almost there!

ATC was great, the FBO (FlightLevel - Beverly) treated us well and charged reasonable fees, and radar services were managed by the perennially capable Boston Approach. We made an IFR departure that morning on runway 16 and climbed above the ceiling in short order. This was not a good setup to manage an approach down to minimums.

On downwind, ATC had me at 3,000 feet going over the departure end of the crossing runway. Turning final, I was still way, way high. I could see that the spot on the ground in the windshield that was not moving was short of the runway. That phenomenon is best named Failure to Achieve Sustained Flight (FASF).

But a wall of haze ahead did not bode well for the arrival to Northeast Philadelphia and the airport ATIS (automatic terminal information service) indicated that arrivals were using the RNAV instrument approach procedure to runway 6. I intercepted the approach course and after a few moments, reached the final approach fix at JUNIA.

I have flown into Mackinac Island a few times over the years, but this was the first time an easterly wind prevailed that favored runway 8 over runway 26. Mackinac Island Airport (KMCD) We entered the traffic pattern for runway 8 on the north side of the airport using a conventional 45° entry to the downwind.

The airport mayhave 2 runways (runway 14/32 and runway 09/27) but only one runway is in operation (09/27) and if this runway is in maintenance, the other runway will be in used. Once we reached runway 27, we departed just minutes after our schedule departure time. So overall, this flight was smooth.
