For ferry flights, two 410-gallon tanks could be installed in the bomb bay, giving the bomber a 3,400-mile range. The guns from nose to tail were as follows: The electrically powered and hydraulically actuated Bendix chin turret (B-17G only) was operated by the bombardier when he wasnt head down in the Norden bombsight.

Sporting tail numbers 28000 and 29000, the VC-25As have been transporting heads of state for the US since 1987. Modifications were made to the aircraft to install a swing tail for easier loading, and the upper fuselage extended for more cargo capacity. The end result was four 747s with three times the cargo volume of a 747-400F.
