Flying FireFly Propeller Plane from Kuala Lumpur (Subang) to Singapore (Seletar)!

Charles Ryan's Flying Adventure

Welcome to my final trip report for 2023! Firefly ATR-72-500 9M-FYG was my ride to Seletar (XSP) airport Introduction I always wanted to fly either in or out of Seletar Airport and I thought this period was the best time to do so. For now, Firefly is the only airline that operates at this airport but I suspect once Scoot starts operating the ERJ-190 E2, we might see them flying out of this airport, giving Firefly some competition.

Part 141 Vs Part 61: A DPE’s Take

Fullthrottle Aviation

I often get asked the question by prospective flight school students on the best places to go for flight school. There are so many options and so many different paths to obtaining a career in aviation, and it’s often hard to determine the best course of action. However, one of the most common questions I get asked is whether or not to go part 61 (informal instruction) or part 141 (formal and highly regulated).

Champ Ornament of Aviation Appreciation

Jetwhine

Each year for as long as I can remember, Sporty’s Pilot Shop has sent its annual crystal airplane ornament with the Christmas card it sends to members of the aviation media. We hung our growing collection of them each year until our boys moved on and out to start their own families, and our downsized tree wasn’t robust enough to sustain them. Instead of creating a Charlie Brown Christmas tree of airplane ornaments, we passed along the ornaments to friends and family who look up when they hear an

Reflection 2023: From Floats to the FRZ

Photographic Logbook

Gratitude For over a decade, I have returned to my logbook at the end of each year to review all that occurred and select some prized images that I think best represent the preceding twelve months. Every time I do, I cannot help but feel immense gratitude for the remarkable things I have experienced as a pilot. I am thankful for pioneering aviators who made it all possible, for a career that allows me to fund it, for flight instructors who taught me their skills, for family that tolerates my fas
