Ten Years Since the Disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370

Fear of Landing

This week’s guest post is not actually here. It’s over at the Guardian: MH370: one of aviation’s biggest mysteries remains unsolved 10 years on by Oliver Holmes. I first spoke to Oliver a few years back when he was writing a different piece on the loss of Malaysia Airlines 370, and I was impressed with his curiosity and thoroughness. When he contacted me about this article, I was less excited.

Armed With Tortured Data, American Takes Its Old New York Strategy Systemwide

Cranky Flier

American Airlines held its first investor day in years yesterday, and while several execs did a good job highlighting many of the changes going on around the airline, it was the commercial strategy that I found to be wild. Audio Panel Update

Gary's Flight Journal

I have been searching for a slide in replacement audio panel for my PMA 8000B. The 800B has worked flawlessly, but I really want Bluetooth. Currently I have been using a portable Bluetooth that I plug into the port pictured top right on the 8000B. The main problem is I have to charge it and sometimes I forget to bring it home with me. I could plug it into a battery brick while I'm at the hangar but that gets to be a pain.

Can GPS Spoofing Fool a Flight Navigator?

Jetwhine

Given the state of the world, GPS spoofing has been in the news with unsettling frequency. Transmitting a counterfeit GPS signal to override the real deal serves the real purpose of guiding aerial, maritime, or terrestrial vehicles where someone other than the vehicles master wants to go. Because the mind works in mysterious ways, reading the spoofing articles led me to wonder, does the FAA still issue the Flight Navigator Certificate, and do people still pursue them?
