The investment is being channeled through the Deeptech 2030 fund, which operates under the umbrella of the “France 2030” initiative. eVTOL start-up Lilium has filed for bankruptcy days after the German federal government and the Free State of Bavaria have failed to guarantee $108 million in loans the company needs to stay in operation. In a Form 6-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Lilium said it’s out of cash and can’t pay its bills so it’s filing for a “debtor-in-possession” form of insolvency that will give it creditor protection while it scrambles to find more money.
