Frontier is Rather Upbeat These Days

Cranky Flier

Frontier CEO Barry Biffle took the stage at Morgan Stanley’s 12th Annual Laguna Conference last week, and it was all unicorns and rainbows. Barry says that Frontier has been turned around, and while there are some things that still need to be done, the airline is well on its way to besting pre-pandemic performance. This may or may not be true, but there are reasons to believe that some of these positive signs may not be sustained.

World’s Only DC-3 on Floats Returns to the Skies

In the warbird industry, when we think about ‘first flights’ after a restoration, the mind immediately jumps to Mustangs and Spitfires, multi-million dollar projects coming out of workshops specializing in the craft. Mispronounced Airline Names: ANA, Etihad, EVA, ITA, JAL, Qatar, Etc.

One Mile at a Time

Early last year, I wrote about how I realized I was mispronouncing the name of ITA Airways. That started a fascinating discussion in the comments section, which made me realize that there are quite a few airlines where people are confused with pronunciation. Often this confusion comes down to acronyms vs. initialisms, with the former being abbreviations that are pronounced as words, and the latter being abbreviations that are pronounced as letters.
