A Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner encountered severe turbulence while flying over Turkey on its route from Doha to Dublin on May 26, 2024. The flight, QR017, landed safely at Dublin Airport at approximately 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, emergency services met the aircraft. In 2022, Bette was bestowed with the title of the world’s longest serving flight attendant by the Guinness World Records and was known as a formidable character in the aviation world. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recorded a new record for the number of passengers screened at airports in the United States (US) over a single day. According to TSA , its officers screened 2,951,163 travelers on May 24, 2024, as the Memorial Day weekend getaway commenced. The new record broke the previous one by more than 40,000 passengers that was set on November 26, 2023, the Sunday following Thanksgiving.

Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has revealed plans to relocate around 200 of its pilots to a new crew base at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, United States (US). The new crew base will open in September 2024 in a move that Spirit Airlines says will “enhance operational reliability”. Following the relocation of its pilots, additional supervisors and support functions will also then follow.

Decision making, airmanship and maybe a little luck led to the best possible outcome for a pilot and passenger at an airport in Sydney, Australia. The Cessna 210 had just taken off from Bankstown Airport in Sydney’s southwest corner when it had engine problems. The pilot, Johannes Swanepoel, elected to make the turn back to the airport but he left the mostly-retracted gear up and that might have made the difference.

All seven people aboard a turbine powered Cessna 206 safely parachuted from a skydiving plane in Missouri on Saturday. The modified Cessna Super Skywagon, with a 550 horsepower Pratt & Whitney turboprop, was at 14,000 feet over Butler County when a “premature parachute release” fouled the tail and possibly damaged it. Everyone, including the pilot, got out before the plane crashed in a field.

A vintage British Spitfire from World War Two has crashed in England, killing the pilot. The aircraft was 75 years old and is known to have shot down a German aircraft during the D-Day operations. Previous to this crash, there were only eight flying Spitfires around the world and it had been used to commemorate its role as one of the top aircraft that saved the UK during the Battle of Britain.

Since launching the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) program almost three decades ago, Boeing has sold over 260 business jets derived from its commercial airframes. Starting with the Boeing 737NG, the manufacturer has expanded its offerings to include widebody jets, including the 747, 777, and 787 Dreamliner.
