Grab Bag My latest adventure in Warrior 481 had a little bit of everything. A long overdue meetup with an old friend, some significant IMC time ending with an instrument approach into an unfamiliar urban airport, high altitude lunch, a teachable moment from my avionics, sharing the frequency with one of the most recognizable call signs ever created, a scientific conference, an aerial sighting that became yet another aviation history rabbit hole, and an example of how truly weird physics can be.

On the 4th of June 2022, a Bell 407 GXP helicopter crashed in a field near Fairfield, New Jersey. I wrote about it at the time. The final report and docket have now been released and so I want to take a closer look. I’ll repeat the basic details from the other post so that there’s no need to read both. Under the signed agreement, Luxair will send independently selected pilots to be trained at BAA Training’s facilities in Lleida-Alguaire, Spain, through an ATPL Integrated program.
