In this post I wanted to talk about these special flights in a bit more detail. How different are they than your typical flight, and are they worth seeking out? The truth is that back in the day, I used to go out of my way to fly on inaugural flights, though I don’t anymore.

The EAA Aviation Museum’s Eagle Hangar welcomed a noteworthy addition on Thursday, May 23, as the B-17 Aluminum Overcast was displayed for the first time in 30 years. This marks the beginning of its future preservation and restoration plans. In April 2021 the Experimental Aircraft Association’s B-17G, Aluminum Overcast (44-85740, N5017N), was grounded after a wing-attach issue was found.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Amazon’s Prime Air drone program permission to conduct flights “beyond visual line of sight” (BVLOS), allowing the company to scale its drone delivery operation. To obtain the BVLOS approval, Amazon said it conducted several flight demonstrations showing how its drone used onboard detect-and-avoid technology to navigate away from obstacles such as aircraft, helicopters and a hot air balloon.

The Singapore Ministry of Transport TSIB just released a preliminary a report that the rapid changes in G (Gravity) forces over a 4.6-second duration likely caused the injuries to crew and passengers.

Berlin is a much busier airport than Tallinn, so I needed to remember that when it was time to leave, I’d need to arrive two hours before. When I added the revised time to my online calendar, I forgot that I was on Eastern European Time but my flight was on Central European Time.

Regional start-up airline BermudAir has scooped an award for interior design at this year’s Crystal Cabin awards. The BermudAir Aisle Class Suite is a business class passenger seat for its Embraer 175 aircraft flying from the USA to Bermuda. It was created by converting 2-2 economy seats into a 1-1 suite. Judges thought that the solution was cost-efficient and sustainable, as over 70 per cent of the existing seats are reused.
