Alaska Airlines announced on August 13, 2024, that it has invested an undisclosed amount in JetZero, a US startup which is developing a revolutionary blended-wing-body (BWB) low emissions aircraft. This investment has been channeled through Alaska Star Ventures (ASV), the venture capital arm of Alaska Airlines, which has a mandate to invest in technologies that can help the carrier reach its goal to become carbon neutral by 2040.

Archer Aviation announced on August 13, 2024, that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Future Flight Global (FFG), a relatively new executive aviation operator, for the sale of 116 Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This order is worth $580 million, at Midnight’s catalogue price of $5 million per aircraft, and takes Archer’s existing order book near to the $6 billion mark.

A total of 7.9 million passengers traveled through LHR Airport in July 2024. Six of its busiest ever departure days came after July 22, 2024, when schools broke up for the summer holiday period. The airport said that prior to July 2024, it had never surpassed 1.8 million passengers in a week.
