Vertical Aerospace starts VX4 untethered flights, unveils long-term strategy

British eVTOL developer Vertical Aerospace has conducted the first untethered flight of its VX4 prototype, kicking off Phase Two of its development program. Until now Vertical Aerospace had conducted piloted flight tests, but with the aircraft always tethered to the ground by a cable. In July 2024, the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved an extension of Vertical Aerospace’s testing activities at its Cotswold Airport (GBA) facilities, located in the southwest of England.

Why Doesn't Malaysia Airlines Fly To The US?

Malaysia Airlines has not served the US since 2014, opting to leave its code on fellow oneworld partner carriers flights. In 2019, the country of Malaysia was downgraded to a Category 2 status by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and at that point, was not allowed to launch any services to the US. This was only true for three years, as Malaysia regained its Category 1 status in 2022.

Hainan Airlines to acquire 40 newly-rebranded COMAC C909 aircraft

Hainan Airlines announced that its low-cost subsidiary, Urumqi Air, plans to acquire 40 C909 regional aircraft, formerly known as the ARJ21-700. Deliveries are scheduled to occur between 2025 and 2032, pending shareholder approval. Urumqi Air currently operates a fleet of 15 Boeing 737-800s, according to ch-aviation data. Avia Solutions Group orders 80 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the European ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) provider, has ordered 80 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal consists of 40 firm orders for B737-8s plus 40 options. The order is the first to be placed directly with Boeing by the Dublin-based group, which already operates 14 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its 220-aircraft fleet.

Five Lufthansa passengers and six crew members were injured after encountering “brief but severe turbulence” during a flight between Buenos Aires in Argentina and Frankfurt in Germany. According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, the Lufthansa Boeing 747-8, registered D-ABYP, suffered turbulence while flying through an Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on November 12, 2024.
