April 11, 2024 THE PHOTO ABOVE was taken in Boston, a week or so ago in the newly expanded section of terminal E. The plane is an Airbus A340. But what’s important is that yellow box. See it, along the right edge of the main boarding door? Any guesses what it’s for? Turns out it’s a sort of dry-erase board — an empty placard onto which crewmembers can write greetings to the passengers. “Welcome aboard,” and that kind of thing.

Dublin Airport Passenger Cap Ruling – GA Not Impacted for Now

The ongoing fight between advocates for business growth and environmental proponents over Dublin Airport’s passenger cap, which threatened to suspend all GA ops to the airport, has been resolved. In simple terms, the Irish Aviation Authority has made the determination that GA can continue to operate to Dublin Airport as usual and won’t be impacted by the airport exceeding its passenger cap.

RTX’s Pratt & Whitney announces GTF MRO capacity expansion at West Palm Beach facility

PRESS RELEASE CHICAGO. Pratt & Whitney announced a $20 million investment to increase the GTF maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capacity of its West Palm Beach Engine Center. The expansion will accommodate a 40% increase in capacity and is expected to be complete by the second half of 2025. To accommodate the planned growth, the facility will increase its workforce by 25% over the next year and will add critical equipment in areas such as machining, test, clean and warehousing.

American’s Revenue Performance Sinks

Cirium recently loaded the Department of Transportation’s DB1B data for Q4 2023, and I eagerly dove in to look for trends. What kept standing out everywhere I looked was American’s poor revenue performance in the quarter. My initial thought was that American’s efforts to abandon its sales efforts have left a mark, but the airline tells me otherwise, suggesting there hasn’t been a negative impact at all.
