Every so often youll see the mainstream media covering the topic of someone flying in first or business class, and leaving their spouse in economy (in these stories, usually its the husband in the premium cabin, and the wife in economy). I want to address that topic in this post Ill share my take, and then Im curious to hear how OMAAT readers feel.

Three Airbus A380 aircraft are destined to be scrapped and stripped for spare parts. The old superjumbo jets will support A380s currently in service with airlines by providing operators and maintenance teams with spare parts necessary to keep A380s airworthy and safe for passenger operations. The dismantling of the aircraft will be performed by VAS Aero Services, in partnership with Tarmac Aerosave.

The United States' Transportation Security Administration ( TSA ) is completing years of work to get US citizens using domestic United States (US) commercial aviation to use only identification cards (ID cards) that verify they are traveling as who the traveler says they are starting on May 7. United Airlines will shortly become the world's largest operator of the Boeing 787, with 76 of the type already in operation and a massive order book for 145 more. Only All Nippon Airways (ANA), the launch customer for the B787, currently operates more of the type, but its eventual fleet of 99 aircraft will ultimately be dwarfed by more than 220 at United.

The planemaker recently said that the aircraft is progressing well at the final assembly stage and is firmly planned for entry into service this year. Delta Air Lines has taken a strong stance against new US tariffs on aircraft imports. During Delta's quarterly earnings call on April 9, 2025, CEO Ed Bastian said the airline will not pay tariffs on any upcoming Airbus deliveries. Instead, Delta will delay those deliveries if tariffs are added.
