Air China and China Southern receive their first COMAC C919 narrowbodies

At Beijing’s Capital International Airport (PEK) on August 29, 2024, the first C919 aircraft was delivered by COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China) to flag carrier Air China. It is the first domestically produced aircraft to be operated by the company and was treated to a traditional water arch salute upon arrival in Beijing. The plane had been ferried from Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG) where COMAC has its final assembly plant.

End of an Era: The last LAN aircraft is repainted

The LAN (Chile) era has ended. On August 26, 2024 it was reported that Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registered as CC-BGI was flown from Madrid to Abu-Dhabi as flight LA9950 to be repainted in the LATAM Airlines livery. This aircraft (msn 38764) was the last passenger aircraft of LATAM still in the LAN Airlines markings. Photos: Alvaro Romero. SAS emerges from restructuring as it prepares to join SkyTeam

SAS has announced its emergence from Chapter 11 restructuring in the US, as well as a similar reorganization process it was undergoing simultaneously in Sweden. The Scandinavian carrier filed for Chapter 11 protection in July 2022 after several years of financial difficulties. The decision to file for bankruptcy protection has allowed SAS to lighten its debt load, with the restructuring of around US$2 billion in financial liabilities.
