Malaysia Airlines has welcomed its first batch of indigenous cabin crew members after they graduated from the company’s training program. The ‘Orang Asli’, which translates to ‘original people’, belong to a minority population that are considered the original inhabitants of Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines said that the four Orang Asli members underwent a rigorous three-month training program at Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) Academy before graduating to become cabin crew on July 11, 2024.

Delta Air Lines says travelers are avoiding Paris this summer due to the upcoming Paris Olympics, set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Due to a significant drop in tourists booking flights to the city, the carrier is facing a $100 million loss, Delta CEO Ed Bastian revealed in an interview with CNBC. Bastian also said that travelers are largely avoiding Paris due to large crowds.

A United Parcel Service (UPS) courier aircraft was forced to turn around and perform an emergency landing at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) due to a mid-air fuel leak. Flight UPS152 departed SYD at around 19:36 local time on July 13, 2024, and was bound for Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) in China. Less than two hours after the B767-300 departed, a fuel leak was reported when the aircraft was crossing over Queensland territory, and pilots issued a mayday call.

Former astronaut Gen. Joe Engle died July 10 at the age of 91. Engle was an accomplished Air Force pilot with the distinction of flying two different winged spacecraft, the X-15 and the Space Shuttle. Beyond that he flew 185 aircraft and accumulated 15,400 hours, including the first operational shuttle flight and another later on. Engle grew up in Kansas, the son of an agriculture instructor but he never considered a life kicking the clods.
