Emirates flights depart Heathrow Airport powered by 3,000 metric tons of SAF

Emirates has confirmed that it has begun operating some flights at London-Heathrow Airport (LHW) using aircraft powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Shell Aviation. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag carrier announced on May 15, 2024, that it had taken delivery of over 3,000 metric tons of neat SAF, blended with conventional jet fuel. It’s the first time that Emirates has used SAF to power planes at Heathrow and represents the largest volume of the fuel type it has purchased to date.
