In high-speed and high-altitude scenarios, like for military and commercial jets, compressibility affects the accuracy of your IAS. In lower-speed, low-altitude flights, IAS and EAS are almost the same. A positive reading means you’re climbing, while a negative one indicates descent. In a climb or descent, this is just as true.
