As the aircraft approached Nome, air traffic controllers informed the pilot of flight 445 that Nomes runway was being de-iced and was temporarily closed, and that flight 445 could expect a 10 to 15 minute delay in landing clearance to be given. Indications show that its speed dropped from around 160 knots to 110 knots.

Although I havent spent much time around GB1s (except for drooling over them while they are on display and flying at airshows) I am always taken aback by how much larger the airplane appears to be in personparticularly, the tall, sweeping rudder that curves down to a sharp point with just enough ground clearance. Free and clear.

A Southwest crew got their aircraft up to 70 knots on a taxiway in Orlando before a controller noticed and ordered them to stop on Thursday. Cancel takeoff clearance. They had been cleared to take off on Runway 17R which is parallel to Taxiway H. The crew mistook the surface for the nearby runway, an airline statement said.

The flight landed safely on runway 06 at 15:02, just twenty minutes after take-off, and returned to its stand on the cargo apron.

At Orlando Airport, Southwest departs from airside 2, and the plane was supposed to take off from runway 17R, a very short distance away. The taxiway runs parallel to the runway.
