At Shefferville , the weather was really bad in rain and landed via the RNP runway 17… the airport was completely empty ! Fussing with the avionics to keep tabs on the weather gave many more knob touches than the airplane itself. The FAA weather said a thunderstorm was forecast, gusts to 6 knots. Lesson learned. With gusty winds forecast along the eastern seaboard on October 11, I let the weather prognostic chart suggest a different course. Off Sodus, I briefly leveled at 2,500 feet to remain visual until I received my instrument clearance from Rochester Approach. Moments later, the pilot emerged and helped four women disembark.
