I also secured hangar space for the week to the tune of $75 a night. I launched from runway three-two and pointed for the Snow Hill VOR. I already had set up for Patuxent approach so I switched from CTAF to Pax to pick up my clearance. Once south of Myrtle Beach I was turned direct Charleston VOR. Ok, enough rambling.

We were assigned a slightly ridiculous alteration to the route I filed: MANCH T316 LAMMS T608 ROC that had us flying past Sodus to the Rochester VOR before setting up for Sodus. But I accepted the clearance knowing that I could change it with a local Approach control like Syracuse. This was even better than I requested.

I checked the hangar and had no bulb in my parts cabinet. I called the clearance delivery number on the OXB NOTAM but they gave me another number to call. Reservations have been made, the estate tour is booked, rental car locked in, and hangar space secured. As we approached Barrett’s Mountain VOR you could make out the mountains ahead. I contacted Asheville ground to pick up my clearance but it was not on file. The whole process has become second nature. That’s odd.

When I contacted Rochester Approach, the controller came back with, "Are you looking for your clearance to College Park?" I answered in the affirmative, received my clearance, and was given a climb to 6,000 feet as the rain streaked over my windscreen. Shouldn't he have my full clearance? Do you have a prop lock?
