As the aircraft approached Nome, air traffic controllers informed the pilot of flight 445 that Nomes runway was being de-iced and was temporarily closed, and that flight 445 could expect a 10 to 15 minute delay in landing clearance to be given.
These tools help the pilots deal with this busy section of the flight replete with numerous checklists, changing clearances, and traffic. We have some of the same checklists, clearances, and traffic, and we have one less pilot to get them all done. Back down here is GA land, we have many of the same concerns.
Although I havent spent much time around GB1s (except for drooling over them while they are on display and flying at airshows) I am always taken aback by how much larger the airplane appears to be in personparticularly, the tall, sweeping rudder that curves down to a sharp point with just enough ground clearance. Max GrossWeight: 2,200 lbs.
Aircraft Weight and Limitations An aircraft’s weight affects inertia and stopping distance. The POH lists landing distances for specific grossweights. Smaller aircraft may only have short field landing distances for maximum grossweight. This can greatly impact landing performance and obstacle clearance.
Aspen Avionics Aspen markets its Evolution Synthetic Vision as an $899 upgrade to its Pro Max retrofit flight displays, intended for Part 23 aircraft with grossweights upward of 6000 lb. It transcribes clearances, ATIS, and other ATC communications into text, and records the audio messages for playback later.
But I have maintained 5000 feet at 6000 pounds grossweight,” notes Ross. I’d also like to see just a little more room between the panel and seat—or maybe just allow the seat to move back a little more for slightly greater yoke clearance. Precisely what the single-engine ceiling is, the team can’t say. “We
Given the need to preserve noggin-to-wing-spar clearance, its a smart but necessary solution. Max GrossWeight: 1,320 lbs. Empty Weight: 840 lbs. Similarly, sliding the seat back lowers the assembly quite a lot, preserving headroom for taller occupants. Find your seating position and get comfortable. Wing Area: 121.6
