This information is typically available via NOTAM. Clearance times are normally under 15-20 minutes unless the terminal is very congested.

Customs San Jose Airport now has a dedicated general aviation terminal with onsite Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ). In the case of tech stops, arrival cards are not needed, and CIQ clearance is not required so long as crew/passengers do not embark/disembark. No fees are associated with CIQ clearance in Costa Rica.

It’s recommendable to double-check if the slot requirement is extended after day 29 of October when Notam becomes ineffective for slots.

Prior Permission Required (PPR) is currently in place for general aviation at SABE – a joint-use civil/military airfield – due to airport and aircraft parking congestion and since this is a primarily domestic airport. All standard CIQ procedures must be followed – including customs/immigration clearance.

Check Feasibility-IQ for any NOTAMs and potential closures. During busy periods MROC will issue NOTAMs barring overnight parking for GA.

Airport authorities are restricting GA parking, by NOTAM, to just one night for aircraft with wingspans of more than 24 meters. CIQ clearance Customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) is cleared within general aviation terminals (GAT) at LSGG, LSZH, LFSB and LFLL, and it’s usually a quick process.
