Class B airspace is also charted on VFR Sectionals and instrument flight rules (IFR) Enroute Low Altitude charts. All aircraft inside the veil must have an operating Mode C transponder and ADS-B Out. This central core extends up to around 10,000 feet MSL, the airspace’s ceiling.

There are different requirements if the flight is operated under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) or Visual Flight Rules (VFR). For example, a pilot flying IFR in controlled airspace will have to file an IFR flight plan and receive an ATC clearance.
