The Captain made his announcement and gave us update on the weather on route and for the announcments by the cabin crew, it was done in 5 languages including the Taiwanese dialect. Take off was slightly turbulent but eventually the weather improved after flying out of Japan. This is the second cabin of the economy class.

A British pilot, Freddie Bosworth set up this airline and today it is trying to be as competitive as possible, giving Qatar, Emirates and Etihad Airways some form of competition. Once on board, I noticed a cabin crew was serving champagne on a plastic cup and was pleasantly surprised I was given one, I suppose because of the occasion (New Year's Day). Once we were on our way, we flew through a bit of turbulence but once the weather was better, the seat belt sign was turned off. That's a good idea!

What else I noted about this flight is the cabin crew made a birthday announcement wishing a 17 years old passenger, a happy birthday (I wonder whether she received anything from the crew - SQ does offer birthday cakes but you need to request in advance) and our first officer on this flight was a female. What excites me about this trip with GOL is that I finally caught my first 737 MAX ride and also enjoyed the splendid view from Rio De Janeiro to Sao Paulo although the weather was not the best. As for the cabin, it is very basic, no IFE system or WIFI maybe that's why the airfare is cheaper. This is one of the examples.
