It cited the crash of JAL 516 at Haneda Airport (HND) as an example of where crew training and procedural accuracy prevented an incident from becoming a disaster. But since 1971, the airline operated without a single fatality, until in 2000 a failure of part of the horizontal stabilizer on an MD-80 caused a crash that claimed 88 lives.

This was my flight's final assigned gate. I spotted another green stripes livery on this A330-900neo on final approach to this airport. Once on board, I noticed a cabin crew was serving champagne on a plastic cup and was pleasantly surprised I was given one, I suppose because of the occasion (New Year's Day).
