The flight departed normally from Leipzig Halle Airport at 02:08 UTC (03:08 local), operating as flight QY5690/BCS18D. There were four crew onboard, two of whom were likely to have been in the jumpseats for repositioning.

J28243 took off from Baku at 03:55 UTC time and was flying to Grozny. In video footage, the plane can be seen entering a steep descent toward Aktau and even banking to the right. Thats definitely not normally how youd shoot an approach, so clearly something was very wrong at this point. Were there sudden flight control issues?
