On the 25th of November 2024, a Boeing 737-400 crashed on final approach to Vilnius airport with one fatality. The 31-year-old cargo aircraft, registered in Spain as EC-MFE, was operated by Swiftair on behalf of the German logistics group DHL for a routine cargo flight from Leipzig, Germany, to Vilnius, Lithuania.

The flight today is a special training flight, without delivering any cargo. After all preparations are done, we go out to pass security, and a bus takes us to the cargo apron of Hong Kong airport. We are very light without cargo, so in no time we reach the speed to rotate off the runway. We are approaching Clark airport.

There are 2 terminals, one for cargo and the other for passengers. After a U-turn, we were greeted by the beach of Chennai as we continue our descent into our glide path towards the runway. On the day of departure I called for an Uber ride to the airport early in the morning. I have to say that I enjoyed my time over here. 200 feet!
