If you’re going into Class B airspace, the ADS-B Out has to be working; if staying outside the 30-mile veil, it doesn’texcept for FAR 91.215(c) , which says if your transponder equipment is operable, it has to be on. However, if your transponder’s certification has expired, you can’t operate the system.

Every airline/operator must establish a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP). V: VOR INSPECTION (FAR 91.171) For any flight operated under instrument flight rules (IFR) using a VOR navigation system, the VOR must be routinely checked/maintained, and an operational check performed within the previous 30 days.

If you discount the fact that it is missing a flight director, autopilot, and autothrottles, my airplane is better equipped than most airliners I have flown. I was trained and prepared to solo but did not have to take a written quiz, talk on the radio, know what a transponder was, or deal with a lot of aircraft systems knowledge.

You’ll always find a steady stream of airliners queued up for departure and arrival. All aircraft inside the veil must have an operating Mode C transponder and ADS-B Out. Due to its high elevation, Denver’s Class B airspace extends up to 12,000 feet MSL to give airliners room to descend. Just fly under a shelf!

Just north of the Selinsgrove VOR, Harrisburg called with the first change in routing. Flying within the SFRA, whether it is within the FRZ or not, requires all aircraft to broadcast an assigned transponder code. change the transponder to 1200) after terminating flight following or cancelling IFR. That cannot happen in the FRZ.
