A LATAM jet departing Italy for Brazil suffered a tail strike on takeoff, in what can only be described as a rather strange incident, as reported by The Aviation Herald. However, while rotating, the jet struck its tail on the runway. At 1:26PM local time, the aircraft took off from Milan Malpensa Airport’s runway 35L.

Japan Airlines is currently refreshing its long haul fleet , replacing 777-300ERs with A350-1000s, featuring all-new cabin products. As I said, Japan Airlines is the launch customer for the Safran Unity product.

Emirates Lounge New York Kennedy Airport Emirates has a door to the jet bridge in its lounge, so in theory, boarding sometimes happens through the lounge, if your A380 is parked at the right gate. However, when I was flying, they were doing some work on the upper deck jet bridge, so boarding from the lounge wasnt possible.

Initially this was supposed to debut on newly delivered Boeing 787s, with plans to then later retrofit existing jets. Instead, Air New Zealand’s new cabins are now debuting on existing jets. Specifically, it’s the jet with the registration code ZK-NZH. However, due to delivery delays, that hasn’t worked out as planned.

Collision Happens as Smaller Jet Rolls on Adjacent Taxiway According to the airline, the incident took place around 10:00 a.m. There were no injuries aboard either flight.

So while the airline hopes to retire older jets, delivery delays are causing the airline to instead invest more in the existing fleet. Those planes need a full refresh, from the nose to the tail. So patience will be required.

Whats exciting is that the airline recently started taking delivery of 787s , representing a new era for the carrier. Even though the plane is new to Austrian, its not a new jet. The roughly five-year-old Dreamliner was intended for Chinas Hainan Airlines, then flew for Vietnams Bamboo Airways, and then it was transfered to Austrian.
