Welcome to my trip report on Singapore Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8! Checking the aircraft type on this route, most of the flights were operated by 737 MAX 8 and I knew I had to fly on Singapore Airlines' aircraft to compare the difference between the 737-800 and this aircraft model. Could it be a typo? Anyone has any idea?

Currently ANA (Not the airline) Aeroportos de Portugal is responsible for the airport and so far it has expanded the airport by building a second terminal which is used exclusively for low cost carriers. The airline offered lounge access and gave us a chance to upgrade to business class but it was an easy decision to skip them.

For now, Firefly is the only airline that operates at this airport but I suspect once Scoot starts operating the ERJ-190 E2, we might see them flying out of this airport, giving Firefly some competition. About Firefly Firefly is a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines set up in March 2007 and started commercial flights a month later.

Today (July 2024), the airline has a massive fleet of twenty-three 737 MAX 8 with one 737 MAX-8200 in operation (197-seater, higher capacity aircraft).

We took off from runway 25 (via backtrack) southbound IFR to Shefferville via DIRECT. At Shefferville , the weather was really bad in rain and landed via the RNP runway 17… the airport was completely empty ! ATC assigned runway 18 and landed. Climb 16’000ft on runway heading 36, squawk 6230 USA here we come !

On downwind, ATC had me at 3,000 feet going over the departure end of the crossing runway. I could see that the spot on the ground in the windshield that was not moving was short of the runway. This meant that I could land normally on the runway, not overshoot, and did not need to be concerned with the airliners on the crossing runway.

SID (Intl, Amílcar Cabral, Cape Verde) offers a long runway and is a good technical stop on this route. As there is so much traffic, the NAT-OTS has been established in order to offer optimum tracks for most traffic, which means passenger airline traffic. TER is a mixed civil military airport, and has the longest runway.
