Air traffic controllers have incredibly stressful jobs, and a vast majority of them are true professionals. The two planes were approaching the airport around the same time, landing on parallel runways into the west. Obviously this caused major confusion in the flight deck.

The aircraft was scheduled to depart at around 6PM, and began it takeoff roll from runway 9R. The crew made the decision to reject the takeoff due to an alarm that went off in the flight deck, and briefly stopped on the runway. At this point the crew stopped the aircraft and requested assistance.
