IN-FLIGHT ALERTS 500 AGL Alerts – Alerts when descending through 500 ft. AGL after having been above 1,000 ft. AGL (or when AGL is unknown), the descent rate exceeds 4,000 ft. AGL and the descent rate exceeds 3,000 ft. AGL, the descent rate is between 3000 ft. AGL and 3000′ ft. per minute.

Theyre pretty much the same thing, but heres the difference: DH is measured above the ground (AGL). The minima table lists the DA and Height Above Threshold for each type of RNAV approach. LPV is the most accurate RNAV approach and can get you as low as 200 feet above the ground (AGL), just like an ILS Category I approach.

If it prevents you from landing close to the threshold, a short runway becomes even shorter. This can greatly impact landing performance and obstacle clearance. x V SO (or POH recommendation) by around 500 feet AGL. The aiming point at an actual short field should be as close to the threshold as is safe.
